Sunday Walk - 11th September 2022 - 10:00am - RSPB St Aidans near Allerton Bywater

Start: 10am prompt - Meet in Car Park at the RSPB St Aidans Nature Reserve near Allerton Bywater

 

Parking: There is a car park at the Nature Reserve which costs £4.00 (takes card) - Free to RSPB members. Alternatively there is free parking on Astley Lane just by the entrance to the Reserve.

Level of difficulty: This is a flattish walk (approx. 400ft of climb) which starts around the nature reserve, on to the Leeds Country Way and returns on the old railway line,

Wednesday 31st August 2022 - Pickering

Start: 10am prompt - Meet by the roundabout in Pickering where the Whitby - Malton road (A169) crosses the Thirsk - Scarborough Road (A170)

Parking: There is a long-stay car-park just by the roundabout. It costs £5.00 for 6 hours and appears to be CASH-ONLY.

There is also no-limit free parking on the A170 roadside. (Heading East away from Pickering)

Distance: Approx 8.5 miles 

Level of difficulty: This is lovely walk with picturesque villages, babbling brooks, woodland walking, field-edge walking and even a bit of road walking. There are a couple of steep-ish climbs; not particularly hard but enough to raise the heart rate. The total amount of climbing is approx. 850 ft.

Toilets: Plenty of bushes!

Cafe: We pass a farm cafe after about an hour and I was proposing taking a coffee-break there. There are also plenty of cafes in Pickering at the end.
