Wednesday walk: Kirkham Priory and Howsham - Wednesday 29th March

Start: 10am prompt from Kirkham Priory car park, Kirkham

Distance: 7 miles

Time: 4 hours

Level of difficulty: Easy

Toilets and facilities: Toilet at Kirkham Priory (subject to being open) and drinks/ffod at Stonetrough pub nearby.

This is a delightful circular walk along the River Derwent, past bubbling weirs towards Howsham Hall before heading gently uphill towards Crambe, before descending back into Kirkham. Ideal for a spring morning in Yorkshire.

Tuesday 14th March - Littlebeck and Falling Foss

Start: 10 am prompt

Car parking: Take the A 171 road  to Whitby and in about 1 1/2 miles after the turn off to Robin's Hood Bay, take a left turn onto the B 1416 and then in about another 1 1/2 miles where the road bends to the right, take the first of 3 turnings to the left, which goes off at an acute angle and sign posted to May Beck. Go to the end of the road where there is a Forestry Commission car park and picnic area.

Level of difficulty: Easy to moderate

Toilets and refreshments: No toilets or refreshments nearby.

This is an easy to moderate, lovely walk which is mainly on paths, which will be muddy, tracks and a little walking on quiet roads. We pass through the hamlet of Little Beck and the well known Falling Foss waterfall before returning  to the carpark along the May Beck.

Sunday 12th March - Bishop Wilton, Great Givendale and Deep Dale

Car parking: Roadside and alongside the beck near the Fleece Inn in Bishop Wilton.

Time: 4 hours

Refreshments and toilets: Pub in Bishop Wilton. Maybe the Ramblers Rest in Huggate - I will enquire if it will be open that day.

This is a lovely moderate walk in the beautiful Yorkshire Wolds. There are a couple of steep ascents and descends. We pass the lovely little church at Great Givendale. The walk is on mainly good paths, tracks and a about a mile of walking on a roman road. It will be muddy in places - come prepared!
