We will set off from the hamlet of Keld that lies at the head of Swaledale, with its cascading waterfalls. We head onto the Pennine Way towards Stonesdale Moor arriving at Tan Hill Inn for refreshements. This is reputedly the highest pub in Britain. We then head towards the Nine Standards Rigg, a line of cairns supposedly erected by the Roman army to look like troops from a distance.
