Castley - Sunday 12th February

Here are the details for the February walk.

Location: Castley

Date: Sunday 12th February 2012

Start: 11am (see start point details below)

Leader: Keith

Distance: 8 miles

Level of difficulty: Moderate (see below for further details)

Starting near Pool & walking through Huby up to Almscliff Crag for lunch before returning a different way passing near to Leathley & finishing with a walk along the banks of the Wharfe.

This is a fairly strenuous 8 miler. Nothing particularly steep but a steady climb up to Almscliffe and a steady decent back. (Mixture of field, track & minor road walking - Reasonably dog
friendly).

Parking is by the side of the road near Castley.

Directions:

From Harewood, follow the A61 North down the hill.

At the bottom where the A61 turns sharp right, continue straight on to Pool
(A659)

At the mini-roundabout in Pool, take the 2nd exit (right) into Pool. (A658)

Follow the A658 through Pool, bearing right at the major junction & cross
the Wharf (Pool Bridge)

Shortly after crossing the bridge, (200m) you come to a junction.

Take the Right Turn. This is a minor road to Castley.

After about 1/2 mile the road starts running next to the river. There is
parking on the riverside a further 200 m along.

(There is plenty of parking but it is spead out. Sally & I will try to get
there early - so look out for our car)
