A lovely walk, a bit of a favourite, taking in the ruins of the castle at Sheriff Hutton, the abandoned village at East Lilly, and the quaint church at the end of the walk.

The Wolds offer wonderful views at all times of the year and especially in spring. Our walk takes us on a clockwise route towards Fridaythorpe, before looping back towards Huggate. The hills are gentle.

Start: 10am prompt. Meet at the far end of Racecourse Road, behind the main York racecourse stands.

This is a gentle walk starting from behind the Knavesmire, heading towards Acaster Malbis, before returning along the river to Bishopthorpe and then back towards York.

There will be a chance to buy a drink and even lunch by the river in Bishopthorpe before we return along the river to the Knavesmire.
