Sunday walk - 3rd December - Helmsley - 10 am Start

A slightly shorter walk - 7.1 miles - from Helmsley through Hag Wood and returning along part of the Tabular Hills walk.

The plan is to have one drink break  so that we are back in Helmsley in time for lunch at 2.00 PM at the Vinehouse Cafe at Helmsley Walled Garden behind the castle.

Start: 10am prompt - Meeting on the corner where you turn for the Cleveland Way car park off the Stokesley Road. (B1257)

Parking: The most convenient car park is the Cleveland Way Car Park (Fee payable - machines take cards) but feel free to park where you prefer.

Difficulty: We will be using well marked paths but it is December and it can be muddy. (Probably better to leave the stilettos in the car and change into them at the end)

Vinehouse Cafe: They are reserving an area of the cafe for us but it would be nice to be able to give them and idea of numbers so I would appreciate if you could let me know if you are planning to join us for the meal. Non-walkers more than welcome.

Sunday Walk - 5th November @10.00 - Newgate Bank, North York Moors

Start: 10am prompt - Newgate Bank Car Park

From Helmsley, take the B1257 Stokesley Road and follow for approx 4 miles. The car-park is on the RHS at the top of Newgate Bank. Beware that the sign is slightly hidden. 

Parking: Free Parking at the car park

Difficulty: It's on the Moors so plenty of ups & downs but nothing too demanding. Walking on recognised paths.

Sunday walk: Fridaythorpe - Sunday 9 July

Start point: Fridaythorpe duck pond near the church

This walk explores a classic wolds landscape of open hillsides and steep-sided, narrow dales with superb views, much of it following the well-waymarked Yorkshire Wolds Way.

Iconic Roseberry Topping, a classic walk in the North York Moors National Park, above the town of Great Ayton. Often compared to the Matterhorn in Switzerland due to its shape, however thankfully much smaller.

An exhilarating walk crossing dales and grassy valleys typical of classic Yorkshire Wolds country. The first and last sections are through the steep-sided Thixen Dale and it’s neighbouring dales. Some fabulous views on route. Hopefully still lots of little lambs.

Follow the Ripley Road (B6165)  out of Knaresborough and the car-park is approx 1.5 miles on the Left Hand Side. (In the trees)

Start: 10am prompt. Park in the lay-by on the main B1222 Bishopdyke road. This is quite a large lay-by away from the houses and just outside the Cawood village boundary.  It was formerly the recycling bin site.

Sunday walk: Church Fenton - 12 March

Start: 10am prompt.  Approaching Church Fenton from Barkston Ash, there is a left hand turn just before the railway bridge (you will see a sign for Church Fenton Railway Station). There is ample parking on this road which is the start of the walk. Meet here. There is alternative parking over the railway bridge and in the station car park.

Walk towards Mulgrave Woods, head to castle then head towards a ford to cross with about 2 inch of water (we have a pair of 9 size wellies which clive will carry if anyone needs assistance to cross!!). Walk out of the woods head to Cleveland way back to Sandsend. Dogs must be kept on lead in mulgrave woods.

A walk from Kilburn, home to the Mouseman, takes us through fields and woods towards Oldstead, Coxwold before returning to Kilburn.
