General description: Starting from the beautiful ruins of Rievaulx
Abbey, we head towards Scawton to join the Cleveland Way, through the forest
(passing the former fish pond for Rievaulx Abbey) along the valley floor to
Kirby Ley Gate, then a short walk along quiet country road to Old Byland. From
here we head towards Caydale Mill where we again travel through forest to come
out near Tylas Farm, we then head back along the River Rye to Rievaulx. A
mixture of quiet country roads, forest and riverside walk, expect some muddy
areas. A nice café at the end to well deserved tea and cake.
