Tuesday walk: Beadlam & Nawton: Tuesday 27 November

Start: 10am prompt

Parking: On left hand side of the road as you leave the village of Beadlam & Nawton

Leader: Keith

Distance: 8.5 miles

Level of difficulty: Easy to moderate

Refreshments/toilets: Helmsley

2 miles east of Helmsley is the village of Beadlam & Nawton. Drive through the village and just as you are leaving the village you will see parking on the LHS.  I don't think there are any toilets in the village but hedges and bushes aplenty en-route. Cafes in Helmsley at the end.

The walk is 8.7 miles up to the edge of the North York Moors and following part of the Tabular Hills Walk. Undulating but not too much climbing. (approx. 250 metres)

Not a bad dog walk, though there were quite a few pheasants in the woods.

Sunday walk: Sunday 18 November - Sleights and the salmon run

Date: 18 November 2018

Start: 10am prompt

Meeting point: Sleights rail station. Parking available at station car park or nearby streets.

Leader: Clive

Distance: 7.5 miles

Level of difficulty: Moderate

Time: 4 hours

The walk starts with a 200m climb out of Sleights towards Falling Foss. The walk continues towards Little Beck and then Burndale before finally following the stream back to Sleights.

Now Clive reliably informs me via his many seasoned contacts that we may see salmon leaping upstream to their spawning grounds. This about the right date for the spectacle, so with a bit of good luck we will be in for a treat....and a salmon supper.
